Paintings

I try to convey a story, narrative, or idea with my paintings. Of course others do this too, but I feel like that sort of story or idea in the contents of a painting creates a more engaging and interesting experience when viewing.

Worker series

A series of paintings centring workers and their crafts. When we create an artwork of something it acts as a sort of celebration or focus on that thing. And centring the worker and works really shows who is most important in society. Modern times sees us more and more alienated from what we do and make in our jobs. So we are all nostalgic for a more human-sized world, one where we do and make things with our hands.

Owner and Worker Portraits

This series shows three generations of owners and workers that spans the entire lifetime of capitalism.
I wanted it to combat the notion of the self-made man and how accumulated wealth perpetuates itself.

East of the Bear

In 2015, I had a go at making a picture book. I wanted it to look like an illustrated manuscript.
I chose a Scandinavian fairy tale because the four winds could be personified as large bird deities.
